Salona
Herbal Hair Oil
What's inside

Every ingredient earns its place, or it's out.

Three families of ingredients — carrier oils, essential oils and raw herbs — cold-pressed together in small batches. No filler, no fragrance, no mineral oil. Here's exactly what goes into every bottle of Salona Herbal Hair Oil.

Carrier Oils

The base that carries everything in.

Seven cold-pressed carrier oils form the foundation of Salona. Each one was chosen for how deeply it absorbs into the hair shaft and scalp — not for how it looks in a list.

Coconut Oil

25 ml

The backbone of the formula. Coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft better than almost any other oil, reducing protein loss and locking in moisture from root to tip.

Deep penetration Protein retention Moisturising

Almond Oil

Cold-pressed

Rich in vitamin E and magnesium, sweet almond oil strengthens brittle strands and reduces breakage without weighing the hair down — ideal for fine or thinning hair.

Vitamin E Anti-breakage Lightweight

Olive Oil

Extra virgin

A centuries-old hair treatment across the Mediterranean and South Asia. Olive oil seals the cuticle, adds shine and provides deep conditioning for a dry or damaged scalp.

Sesame Oil (Til)

Cold-pressed

Used in traditional Desi hair care for generations. Sesame oil is warming, penetrates deeply and is known for its natural SPF properties, shielding the scalp from daily environmental damage.

Castor Oil

Cold-pressed

The thickening oil. Castor oil is high in ricinoleic acid, which stimulates blood flow to the scalp and is widely recognised for supporting hair density and reducing patchy thinning.

Alsi Oil

Flaxseed · Cold-pressed

Flaxseed oil is exceptionally rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which nourish the scalp at a cellular level, reduce inflammation that causes hair fall and add long-lasting softness to the strand.

Omega-3 Anti-inflammatory Softness

Kalonji Oil

Black seed · Cold-pressed

Black seed oil — mentioned in ancient texts as a remedy for "everything except death." In hair care, its thymoquinone content combats scalp inflammation, dandruff and chronic hair shedding.

Essential Oils

The active notes that do the real work.

Three potent essential oils, each chosen for a specific clinical function — not just fragrance. They're added at therapeutic concentrations, not as a marketing claim.

Herbal Botanicals

Five herbs, each with a thousand years of proof.

These aren't trend ingredients. Each herb was in traditional South Asian hair care long before the word "hair oil" existed in English. We source them fresh for every small batch.

Indian Gooseberry · آنوالہ

Amla

The single most vitamin-C-rich food known to traditional medicine. Amla strengthens the hair shaft from within, slows premature greying, prevents breakage and feeds the follicle with antioxidants that protect against pollution and UV damage.

Vitamin C powerhouse Anti-greying Antioxidant Root strengthening

Gulhar

Wild Fig · گولر

The bark and fruit of the wild fig tree are a traditional remedy for dry, flaky scalp. Gulhar is rich in flavonoids and tannins that tighten the scalp pores, reduce sebum overproduction and calm chronic itching.

Scalp pore tightening Anti-itch Tannins

Sikakai

Soap Pod · سیکاکائی

The original no-sulphate cleanser. Sikakai's natural saponins gently lift dirt and oil from the scalp without stripping the hair's natural pH or leaving it brittle. It conditions while it cleanses.

Natural saponins pH balanced Conditions & cleanses

Baadchor

Valeriana · بادچور

A lesser-known but potent herb used in Hakeem medicine for scalp circulation and nerve calming. Baadchor helps soothe the scalp at the nerve endings, reducing the inflammation that leads to chronic hair fall in stressed individuals.

Methi

Fenugreek · میتھی

Soaked overnight and cold-pressed to release their natural mucilage. Fenugreek seeds coat the hair shaft in a thin, slip-giving layer that detangles, softens and protects against heat and mechanical damage — without any greasy residue.

What's not in the bottle.

Every formulation decision is also a decision about what to leave out. Here's our list of never-added ingredients — and the reason each one was rejected.

Mineral Oil Coats the shaft without absorbing. Creates the illusion of shine while blocking the herbs from reaching the scalp.
Parabens Synthetic preservatives linked to hormone disruption. Unnecessary when oil is stored correctly and used within three months.
Sulphates Harsh detergents that strip the scalp of its natural oils and break down the protective acid mantle over time.
Synthetic Fragrance Hundreds of undisclosed chemicals hiding under one word. Our natural scent comes only from the herbs themselves.
Artificial Colour Added to make oil look richer or greener. Our colour varies batch to batch because the herbs vary — that's the proof.
Silicones Build up on the scalp over time and suffocate follicles. Often listed as "dimethicone" on labels. Zero in Salona.
Storage

Keep it fresh, keep it potent.

Because Salona Herbal Hair Oil contains no synthetic preservatives, we recommend using each bottle within three months of opening. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

A slight colour variation between batches is completely normal — it's proof the herbs were sourced fresh for each press, not standardised with a dye.
